What is SR22 Insurance?

An SR22 is a document that shows proof of financial responsibility, also called a Certificate of Financial Responsibility. If you get stopped or are involved in an accident without insurance, you’ll be required to carry the SR22 for a specified amount of time. Once you properly fulfill the designated time period, you would no longer be required to carry the SR22 filing.

What type of coverage do I need for SR22 Insurance in Florida?

The State of Florida requires you to maintain the following liability limits when maintaining SR22 coverage:

$ 0
of bodily injury liability coverage per person injured in an accident
$ 0

$ 0

Helpful Tips:

Once you’re required to file an SR22, here are some helpful tips to help avoid your driver’s license getting suspended:

  • Stay alert for any correspondence from the Florida DMV
  • Have no lapse in coverage during the time required to maintain the SR22

  • Repeat traffic offenses or getting too many tickets in a short time period (Multiple Incidents)
  • License suspension or revoked license

Non-Owners SR22

If you get into an accident while in someone else’s car and you don’t have automobile insurance because you don’t own a car, an SR22 may be requested by the State of Florida. The coverage requirements are the same as the SR22 coverage.
